Bodyguards, or as they are termed in the industry, a CPO (Close Protection Officer), often operating as part of a larger PSO (Protective Security Operation) detail.
The role of the colloquial bodyguard is often misunderstood, mostly due to people’s associations of the job as it appears in action films. The true PSO officer is usually tasked with the unenviable job of protecting his/her client from danger. That danger can take many different shapes to include assault, kidnapping, harassment, homicide, real and intellectual property and information theft, physical threats, and other criminal offenses. A "bodyguard" is as much an intelligence agent as he/she is a deft guardian of armor.
